I would recommend you go look at applying at ISC. If you start out as a helper, you won't make that much money (under 20/hr plus ot and benefits), but they will pay to send you to abc school to be a certified electrician. It's honest work and as you get more experience, you will get promoted. Electricians are in demand and will be able to name their own price in the coming years due to the boom in petrochemicals and refining.
