I think it's hard to accurately speculate on "how much time" he has left. Stephen Hawking was diagnosed with an ALS variety of motor neuron disease at age 21. Fifty something years later, he's still smarter than most of the people on the planet and is contributing more to society and science than most ever will.

Don't write off Steve Gleason just yet.
