Mr. Coburn agrees with you about locking horses in to the series.
I don't mind actually as long as the horses that are entered into the Belmont are in the race to win and not just to F the TC chances. I am with the group that believed this happened with Smarty Jones. I don't know what they had against the horse or connections, but it was cheap IMO.
The horse that makes me most nervous is a new guy named Tonalist which is the only horse really bred for stamina top and bottom. However, he won a race in the slop of the lead so those usually do look impressive. BUT, I really hope he doesn't win because that is a really CRAPPY name. WTF is a tonalist? Seriously? Yeah I watched Tonalist at the Peter Pan, he could be one to watch out for..there will be alot of horses with 5 weeks rest in the field too.
