The Patriot is a clear guilty pleasure of mine. Sure it's absolutely ridiculous and over-the-top, but when viewed as a comedy, it's pretty incredible.

Take the funniest scene in the film, when a white Sout Carolina plantation owner says he's proud to fight alongside a black slave. You know, South Carolina, the first state to secede from the union. Just about brought me to tears.

I just watched Catch 22 again, probably for the 20th time.

Several years ago, I talked with a B17 pilot, a delightful man, and I mentioned Catch 22. He had been stationed in Italy during the war and all he said was "sometimes it got pretty hairy up there."

Great movie that shows how "hairy" it got.

It's a war movie made for cheesy action junkies like myself and I love it. It's over top obnoxious unrealistic perfection.
