Mountain Brook is pretty cool, but it's also expensive to live in. Not sure if it's suitable for a young professional who's probably going to be living in an apartment but it's a cool town.

Mountain Brook and to some extent, Vestavia, would be my only interests in Birmingham (and I do like Birmingham). They're far more attainable for most people than Park Cities in Dallas or the higher end areas of Atlanta, plus the public schools are doable.
