From Atlanta, wouldn't include it most likely, although it is a fine place for opportunity.

My list would be (no order):

Nashville
Asheville
Charleston
Chattanooga
Dallas
Austin

My secondary list of common choices that would be fine but that I have one or more significant issues with...

Atlanta (traffic, diminishing good suburbs, transplants)
Birmingham (has nothing on Atlanta or Nashville, really)
Mobile/Daphne/Fairhope (Mobile has issues, Daphne is fake Fairhope, Fairhope would be fine if you're ok living in AL and are ready to settle down)
Savannah (too hard to break into, plenty of bad areas, not a lot of opportunity)
Charlotte (better than Birmingham but still no better than Nashville, some professions excepted)

Mountain Brook is pretty cool, but it's also expensive to live in. Not sure if it's suitable for a young professional who's probably going to be living in an apartment but it's a cool town.
