Dallas just has too much urban sprawl and faceless subdivisions to be interesting to a young college grad.
Charlottesville, Virginia is a really awesome town, but you'll get the OT started on the whole "Virginia isn't Southern" debate.
Or, and this cuts against what you're looking for, you could move to a city like Boston or Manhattan. People up north dig the Southern charm. Not kidding.

I consider Texas as it's own place. Not really "Southern" if you know what I mean. Plus Texas is kind of like Tennessee's science project. Tennessee natives Davy Crocket/the other Volunteers and Sam Houston started that thing. You are welcome, Texas.
