Strong. Difference in power from a 6.0 to a 7.0 is about 32x in released energy. That would make the recent Japan earthquake(9.0) about 32,000+ times more powerful than a 6.0.

That is VERY misleading. I guarantee you that a 9.0 does not feel 32,000 times more powerful than a 6.0 and it also doesn't do 32,000 times the damage....NOT EVEN CLOSE!
