We shouldn't be trying to "protect" American ball players. That's the same thing as affirmative action. Minorities need jobs whether they deserve them or not. So instead of trying to improve the chances of minorities to get good jobs by addressing the root causes of their failures, we make a law saying that you have to hire them anyway.
We need to address the root causes of why less Americans are in the pros, not take opportunities from other more deserving athletes.

Black kids would rather play football and basketball, and the well-to-do white kids are playing lacrosse now.
