The frequency of our sub packages was a calculated risk, and yes, it did leave us vulnerable to getting gashed in the run from time to time.

Lofton and Hawthorne are both downhill players. Hawthorne seemed to be able to get to the outside than Lofton could. Lofton had a lot of missed tackles because he simply didn't have the speed to get to the outside at times and had to leave his feet in order to have a chance at making the tackle.

Shazier would be the fastest guy on the defense if we drafted him. One of the knocks against him is he's too aggressive at times and will over run plays.

I don't know if teams were having success running up the middle or what? Didn't seem like they did.

most of the time it seems like the plays we have trouble with are to the outside... kind of a run off tackle?

I don't know.

its not so much about us having extra DB's in there I think. Like you said, both Lofton and Hawthorne are downhill players. They are kind of in a bind on plays where they have to chase plays on a toss sweep or something like that and also that read option was just brutal a few years ago but some of that was on the linemen(Will Smith).

I noticed Hawthorne making more plays towards the beginning of last season but as the year went on... not as much. I guess he wasn't playing as many snaps.
