No they weren't. They were very good on offense based on the numbers, but they were not first and certainly not by a wide margin.

They were 4th points per game, and 3rd in offensive rating. And it was 21 games. So it was about a quarter of the season.

Their record was 11-10 over that span.

They averaged 106.0 ppg. The highest-scoring team, the Blazers, averaged 110.3 ppg. So the Blazers were actually the ones leading by a wide margin.

If you look at points per 100 plays, the Pelicans drop to #10. That means they were getting many second-chance opportunities.



They were certainly one of the best offensive teams during that span based on the stats. But they were not "the most potent offense in the league by a wide margin".
