You are correct, its always been there, people just don't get into things they find interesting because their friends don't do it. Baton Rougeans have a problem about worrying what others think. But then they go to Austin and talk about how cool it is there, because it is more socially acceptable.
And thanks to the author for letting us know its ok,and we dont have to mimic New Orleans & Lafayette.
