I'd bet Payton does not select a WR in the first round; it's not going to happen. Why? Payton's ego won't let him. He is considered the preeminent offensive coach in the league...a "genius". A genius is suppose to know every aspect of the subject matter he commands. What's the point? Robert Meachem. Payton made a mistake in selecting Meachem; he never really lived up to the billing and should have never been selected in the 1st round (hell, the guy needed an operation and everyone knew before the draft). Payton got too cute with the pick and it backfired on him.
Picking Colston,Moore and now Stills, more than anything, have added to Payton's reputation of building a system capable of inserting "plug and play" WRs with late round or undrafted players. That's the sort of stuff that gets the media putting you in the "genius" category. I expect that approach will continue. Will they take Landry if he's there in the 3rd? Maybe. He's not taking a WR in the 1st.
