If you have a car, definitely add St. Augustine to your trip. It's a 40 minute drive from downtown Jax, but well worth trip. There are a lot of historic buildings, as it is the oldest city in the U.S. It is very walkable, so you can park your car and walk around. Many good restaurants and bars. There will be people there dressed for the period, street performers, and lots of people watching to be done. Also, A1A Aleworks is a brewpub. It's beautiful and right on the water where the Bridge of the Lions crosses the harbor.
The big buildings in the pic are Flagler College which is located right downtown. Their are also a lot of old churches that you can walk through and admire the architecture. Fort Matanzas in in the upper left hand corner. This is all very walkable.
