frick it!
First, my basis of knowledge. Someone in my family has server in every war the US has fought, my father did three tours in the Army in the infantry in Vietnam and retired with 28 years service as an E-9. Myself joined the Navy after the 1st gulf war broke out and served on the USS La Salle (AGF-3) stationed in Bahrain.
Second let me end your first argument, the men and women that serve our country today do so at the will of the commander in chief. Yes that is what you are complaining about, but whether you agree or not, IF the commander in chief chooses to use the men and women serving our country for such wars then they should be provided with the tools they need both during and after they do so.
If you want to argue something it should be "stop getting in to unneeded wars" if that is your feeling. By God if the are going to war I want them to have the best that is available while there, and when they come home the support they need. My father still wakes up with nightmares from Vietnam. He has 80% hearing loss from the sound of gunfire. He has many other health issues that may or may not be related to Agent Orange. When he joined he was promised lifetime health care for free, and guess what they have broken that promise along with man others to make room for this reduced military.
I got out of the Navy because of Clinton's draw down, it was almost impossible to make rank. IMO if you want a smaller military stop using them as the worlds police force
