This thing would be feasible if they went back to a 9 or 10 game regular season. Right now the champion has to play 14 games. In the proposed lay out with a 10 game schedule they would only have to play 15. The two big problems would be the schools getting the revenue for the two lost games and all the nitpicking small arse conference "wanting their Champion" in it.
A 32 team playoff with a 11 game regular season would work really well. The first game of the playoff could be at the home of the higher seed. The rest of the games would all be played on neutral sites to raise additional money. Anything beyond 16 teams will make the regular season near irrelevant and beyond 8 teams like a watered down 25 year single malt scotch.
