Maybe to you...

The plane flew for over 7 hours. This is one of the only facts we actually know.

ETA: if the plane flew in the northern corridor then there are about 10 countries this plane could be in.

Another thing... they said the plane only had enough fuel on board to last for about 7 hours.

And flying below 5,000 feet burns a lot more fuel than normal.

So if the plane was in the air for 7 hours, and there was only enough fuel to last for 7 hours for a normal flight, there is no way the plane could have been travelling below 5,000 feet for very long because they would have ran out of fuel well before 7 hours in the air.
