I feel like this team will benefit from having a more balanced offense with a power rushing attack. Drew can work wonders with play action if the opposing team is respecting the run (something we don't see often). Your point about keeping the offense wide open with Brees is valid, but I think they want to prolong his career by reducing the amount of times he's going to have to sling the ball, which goes hand in hand with the amount of hits he will take. Less hits, less throws.. Longer career. He is still very capable of slinging it, and will be asked to do so, but hopefully not as much.
Personally it feels a lot more dangerous to be balanced with an elite QB who can make elite throws at any time regardless.

100% agree. If we can consistently pick up 4-5 yards a carry on the ground, It will work wonders all around. Our play action will be better, our defense will stay off the field longer, and Drew won't take as many hits. Not to mention, we will be able to score more on the ground and won't have our QB tied for most rushing touchdowns on the team.
