I've been writing a few short horror stories the last several days. There's a site I enjoy called "chilling tales for dark nights". There's a contest you might want to try entering if you enjoy writing.

Thank man I love scary stuff. The thrill of freaking myself is fun, but when I do get freaked out I don't like it

I'm always thinking of just random stuff like that. So feel free, unless you make a million bucks off it and then we can share in profits

If need be I have some friends whose wives are elementary school teachers. I can see if a couple of the kids could draw up some stuff for whatever you want and color it.

If you like that, I just finished a short horror story I'm shopping around. I can email you a copy if you like and you can see what you think of it.

That'll be really cool if I ever need it. I'll make sure to put a thread up when I write one that can use that.

In this one, the collage is actually drawings by art students for Halloween. This actually happened when I went to the art building. Like I've said, nothing so far is untruthful

Well you know art nowadays. Someone sneezing on an easel could be worth millions.

I mean take it for what it's worth but in college a buddy of mine was followed up to the top of the library where no one really went. It was awesome to study for exams/cram week because it was so private and quiet. There is a decent small bathroom up there and he was in there one day taking a deuce. There was only one other stall and someone barged in and sat in the stall next to him. Next thing he knew someone grabbed his leg and tried to pull him. He started yelling and the person ran out. He never knew who it was or found out.

He was freaked when he came to class that afternoon. Sorry I went off on a little side note, but thinking about your story reminded me of what happened to him in the school building.

It's a short story. You don't have to read it. But those who would want to read it need some substance. That's the point of storytelling.

But for you:

TL;DR: I had to make up a quiz. the building was creepy and after taking my quiz, I found a gruesome drawing of myself in a Halloween collage

Could some of the things in the collage start happening to you or around you/on campus/ etc...?

A few events happen and then you begin to realize where you saw them. Go back to find the collage gone or only the pictures of the horrible events were missing, the rest remaining.

An ending could be along the lines of the drawings were made from people who've skipped classes in the past and have had to draw something horrible that they thought of, then had to act it out in real life.

This... now this could happen. My original direction of this was straight stalker: weird art student sees me and draws the gruesome portrait while I'm taking my quiz, then it just keeps climbing and climbing until the climax.

But then I thought that maybe the art department could have some dark secret, and the picture could be to scare me off from coming back.

I could, in theory, catch the audience up to live action and entertain both theories while investigating. Although, once both have been introduced, a stalker may seem anti-climatic. If I introduced both, I'd probably have to go with the hidden secret conclusion.

But what could they be hiding?

I like this, but i'll have to think of what could be out there that hasn't been talked about before. You can't go with the crazed professor, or revengeful student. It's got to be something new.

I don't know yet either, but I want it to be deep and dark. The last thing I want to do is post this story and have an anti-climatic, boring cause.

I believe I know exactly where you are talking about...

the one thing that I don't see mentioned is anything about the musky smell of the building as you walk through it, or the sound your feet make as you walk down the empty hallway...

one thing I will never forget about the art that is on display in the courtyard was one "exhibit" that was basically a large tree stump sitting on the ground and being used as a cutting board...there were a half dozen or so beef shanks that had been hacked on with a meat cleaver that was stuck in the wood right in the middle of the cow parts...the whole thing was about half rotten from the heat and stunk like shite...

it all took place in the old quad right outside of the old mechanical engineering machine shop...
