Dodge has really stepped up their game lately. Motor trend's truck of the year two years running. I think they made serious upgrades when Mercedes bought them a few years ago when Obama bailed out Government Motors.

We have a 3500 cummins laramie in our fleet and its bad arse. Ive got a 2011 1500 hemi 4x4 and its never given me a problem. People knock on Dodge around here but theyve really stepped their game up. I like all of the major manufacturers btw--Ford, Chevy and Dodge.

Fiat is who bought them out. Benz had partial ownership back in the early 2000's, then Cerberus capital bought Chrysler took all of their cash and left them for dead....then the bailout...then Fiat saved them.
But yes, they aren't the blown transmission and cracked dash nightmares they once were.
Can't go wrong with any of the Big 3 + Toyota right now. All excellent trucks.
