i think it is neither inevitable nor preventable.
i mena, you can take all the recognized precautions to prevent cancer but you may end up with it later in life.
similarly, you can eat like crap, smoke occasionaly, and treat your body like a dump and may never get cancer.

Cancer is inevitable, no way around it. Although most will pass due to other factors before getting cancer.
DNA polymerase can't always replicate your DNA perfectly when cells are dividing, and mistakes/mutations accumulate as one ages.
Just depends on when that particular mutation occurs, setting off the cascade.
fyi, I know my stuff (masters in medical sciences, and eventually med school)
