I agree with this, so it really averages it out that he didn't screwed overall. I just thought that year he was so much better and actually desired an Oscar for his role in Beautiful Mind, whereas, I did not think Washington's role and performace was Oscar material.

Denzel just because of the "boom" meme we now have.
I disagree that SPR was just its opening. The scene where the nazi kills the Jewish soldier still gives me chills. I though it was a great movie that evoked a lot of emotion. SiL is a nice film and well made but IMO doesn't (obviously) have the impact of SPR or any rewatchability at all.
