Ask yourself this. Which one of your friends would be there beside you if you were flat broke, got in a terrible accident and lost the use of your legs, but not your outlook on life let's say, and yet you couldn't offer anything to anyone save your company. If you can honestly list one person you know without a shadow of a doubt that would still be there after all that, not on Facebook, but IRL and hanging out with you, then consider yourself real lucky, because that's your best friend. I think I can count two. One who moved away years ago but he and I were just that tight, and one more who his character won't allow him to be anything but, and brother, I have acquired a whole lot of friends and acquaintances over the years who I still keep in touch with regularly. That's really the size of it I think for most people.
