So if the "experts" average them out as a 3rd place team behind Boston/Rays how is finishing 4th failing to meet expectations? This is an 88 win team and with luck maybe 90. The expectations aren't that great right now to begin with unlike the Dodgers who may be the favorite in the NL.

The NYY expect to make the playoffs every year. I see almost every expert having them in as a wildcard and if they don't make the playoffs they will underachieve.
