The guns could have been legally owned by the girlfriend.

There are certain rules which allow a convicted felon to own firearms. It depends on the charge, how long ago, and things like that.

There were 4 guns all legal.

1st The gun used was a semi auto rifle, in the bedroom

2nd His mother had a gun in the kitchen

3rd His grandfather's shotgun was in the house

4th gun was locked in a safe
