Here's a just for instance realistic scenario:
Restructure Evans and Colston fully(Colston has guaranteed money anyway and I'd prefer to keep him over Grubbs if it came down to it) and June 1st cut Bunkley and we now have $15.3 mil in cap space this year, while still having $11.2 mil next year.
If you do Grubbs instead of Colston it's very similar($15.6 mil this year and $11 mil next year).
Then looking at next year, if you June 1st cut Lofton we save $7 mil, with $2 mil dead money. Hawthorne as a June 1st cut would save $4.5 mil, with $1.5 mil in dead money.
Moore may stick around this season, untouched or not, but next year he is definitely going to have to take a pay cut or get cut. He saves $4.3 mil, with $1.3 mil dead money

11.5mil is no small amount.
Perhaps the FO will tip their hand a bit if we see ILBers being stocked up.

I'd rather not restructure the older fellas. I know it would be nice to put off Brees until next season, but I'd rather he be more difficult to cut than Colston/Grubbs/Evans. We did Evans, Grubbs, Colston, and Hawthorne last year and the latter definitely is biting us in the arse. Grubbs and Colston arguably are as well, though I definitely wouldn't consider cutting Grubbs this season even he hadn't restructured last season. Getting out of Colston's $5.5m base salary would be somewhat enticing if we drafted a guy like Benjamin in the first round, though he did play well late (507 yards, 4 TDs in final 6 games).

If you're going off of a website's projections, it most certainly doesn't include Jordan's team option. Don't feel like figuring out the exact number now, but $7m is a good estimate.
