Unless you have an extremely protected yet still sunny spot, you won't get fruit. Sure, you might get a nice tree. But avocados are very tender; most will be killed outright by 25-30 degree temps. There is a big one on Prytania near Melpomene in NOLA that fruits prolifically....but it is growing very close to a house. Seen a few others in LA with similar sheltered locations that actually fruited.

And it will take from 5-15 years to bear the first fruit. And never grow an avocado from the seed from a store bought one.
