Well yea.. If you live in Zona or California then Hawaii makes a lot more sense. The person flying out of Oakland would have 12 hours on a plane to get to the USVIs so the inverse applies to yall. Why go to St John when Hawaii is just 5 hours away etc..
As far as natural beauty is concerned I would put them on the exact same level. Hawaii has a visit to Pearl Harbor which makes that local more interesting historically. I prefer beaches of the VI's though.
