Im not saying hes not good, just that the Pats have in very good in house replacements for him and he wont be worth bringing back at his pricetag. They drafted Collins last year, partially because they knew Spikes would be gone this offseason

Chandler Jones, Talib, Nink, Devin McCourty (the most underrated and best free safety in the game), Mayo, and Wilfork all have way bigger impacts during each game than Spikes

Wasnt sure of the Belichick/ Spikes relationship... just remember hearing something during the broadcast where they were saying that Spikes is a Belichick type of player and loves the way he plays.

In his prime, I would have said Wilfork is more impactful than Spikes. But hes out of his prime. 32 years old and coming back from an achilles tear. And when he did play in the early part of the season he was having his worst year by far. 5 total tackles in 3 games and 1 series. Not good. And i like WIlfork too. Hes just not the same player he was in the past.

And I like Mayo too. But when he was playing this year he only had 1 good game and it was vs Cincy. And hes pretty much the opposite of Spikes. Not good against the run (30 out of 35 OLBs on PFF). He was 14 out of 35 in pass coverage though. Which is solid. But overall rankings he was 28 out of 35 OLBs. Def was 1 of his worst years when playing.

And I forgot about Nink. And McCourty is a damn good FS. Wouldnt call him the best haha but hes really good. Should have said that Spikes is 1 of the 5 most impactful players on the Pats D along with Jones, Talib, Nink, and McCourty.

And I agree that Nicks contract wont be as high as people or Nicks thought it would be due to his play this year. But hes still a good WR and somebody will make a dumb move and give him a good payday. Bigger than the Pats could afford. Plus, the Pats already have 2 pass catchers that are injury prone in Gronk and Amendola. Doubt they go sign Nicks in FA.

And the Pats have had #1 guys. Just not at WR in the past few years. 1 of them is now in jail for a very long time, and the other cant seem to get healthy / stay healthy.

Collie was signed in early October. He played and caught 2 passes vs the Saints on Oct 13. Only took him a week to grasp the playbook better than a guy that went through mini camp and beginning of the season?
