Barca's possible motivation for allegedly lying in the Neymar scandal?

What exactly would have been More Than A Club's motivation in lying about the total amount of the Neymar deal?
Would the motivation simply be to trick Messi and their other star players so they wouldn't all demand raises (since that extra €40 would mean Neymar makes almost twice as much as Messi?)
Am I missing something?

I just hope this doesn't complicate the Sanabria to Roma deal. . . hopefully they'll need all the extra money they can get to pacify Messi now. . .

been wondering this myself.
my best guess: they pretty much bribed his family into picking them. the third party ownership situation obviously complicated things. Santos is pissed at this news, which means they got short-changed. it's been reported by multiple people, including Balague, that Bayern and Real came for Neymar strong late in the game. perhaps paying more to the family on the side was Barca's way of insuring that he picked them, even if Real or Bayern may have offered a higher legit bid (giving Santos more money).

Yes, Sanabria is the Paraguayan.
that's what I was thinking but mainly that they wanted to keep it a secret so that all their other star players didn't know that Neymar would be getting CR7 money when you add it all up . . .
didn't think about it perhaps being to dupe Santos as well. . .

Rosell and the new hack have always attacked RM for spending much more, and achieving much less (recently).
This was his management team´s key campaign message.

I'm almost positive balague said Real's offer was higher than barça's but neymar wanted to go to barça. I think bayern's interest wasn't as formal but they did make a late push. I could have that backwards though. I think when the bale talks stalled, Real went really hard after neymar.

RM was after Neymar before Bale, and weren´t offering scandalous numbers (more or less, in the range which Barça said they paid, probably 7M more).
I think they knew they always were going to get Bale, and the return was to make the operation more expensive for Barça.
BTW Real was the club with the most revenue on the planet, once again (appeared in the news today). Barça second, Bayern third, Manu fourth.

I see.
I forget the socio's name who actually started this ball rolling but he was kind of funny in his quotes in the "pink paper" article I read.
Basically said it was that he got no response whatsoever from management regarding his concern that pissed him off so much. He said even an obvious lie would have probably been acceptable enough to make him go away.
