....requiring the closing of the Gitmo terrorist prison within one year.

Apparently, Obama was just joking when he did it.

THE example of a candidate running his mouth about something he really doesn't know about.

You do realize Congress has placed into ever military spending bill a clause not allowing him to close gitmo? So he has a choice, either veto the entire bill or keep Gitmo open.
LINK
I just love how conservatives block closure then ask WHY DOESNT OBAMA CLOSE GITMO?! And you sheeple take the bait every time.

Did I ask that in my OP?

I know why it hasn't been closed. I just like to point out that Pharoah's Executive Orders are not always the last word.

I love it when liberals jump at the bait and miss the point entirely. Those sheeple are frickin' hilarious.

Even if Congress didn't block it, there is no easy way out of that situation. Gitmo is going to remain a serious black spot on our record for years to come.

There have been many such examples during Obama's admin.

Obama's ignorance in every leadership category is a joke. He is so out of his league and everything that he has done has been a disaster. His signature legislation is the biggest disaster in the history of this country and will implode in itself soon. Everything about this guy is very scary and it will take this country a long time to recover from this disaster.

A little CSB. I was stationed at GTMO when they brought the first prisoners in. I got to help escort them from the airport to camp Xray. It was dumb. That is all.

I look at this as his George H. W. Bush "Read my lips..." moment.

Obama was categorically absolute in that he will shut down Gitmo.

That's all fine and dandy in theory. It was the actuality of doing it that proved unworkable.

You lie a lot. And it's getting worse.

You specifically said

you're saying Obama went back on his word... As if to say he could close it if he wanted to close it.

Every day we hear from your yahoo buddies about the tyrannical Obama issuing EO subverting the will of Congress. Here he issues one and Congress blocks him and Obama abides by Congress' wishes and you still bitch.

You bitch like a 14 year old girl. Grow the frick up old man.

Unworkable? Checks and balances tend to make things unworkable when Congress and the President disagree.

ETA this is nothing like read my lips. Bush I agreed to raising taxes. He changed his mind. There are many occasions when Obama flip flopped. Here Obama hasn't changed his mind:

“I am encouraged that this act provides the executive greater flexibility to transfer Guantanamo detainees abroad, and look forward to working with the Congress to take the additional steps needed to close the facility,” Obama said in a statement.

The new law still forbids transfer of Guantanamo detainees to the United States, a restriction Obama opposes.

He said “the continued operation of the facility weakens our national security by draining resources, damaging our relationships with key allies and partners and emboldening violent extremists.”

Nothing in my post said "Why doesn't Obama close gitmo?"

Sorry I embarrassed you but you brought it onto yourself. Next time just STFU and you will have a better chance of avoiding being embarrassed.

Probably.

I wish I understood the significance of it when happened, but I was just a dumbass 19 year old PFC. I was pissed that on my day off the fenceline I had to escort those assholes across the bay to their pen.

It was just a stupid campaign promise.

You know, like, "If you like your plan, you can keep it. Period."

You clearly meant it. It's the point of this stupid thread. It's what is repeated ad nauseum here and AM radio. Only the Right is too uninformed to realize it's their own leaders blocking closure. Your leaders. Your leaders leaving a stain on America.

I see why you're a Republican. You fit so well. From your stand on marriage equality to Gitmo to all things favored by the neocons... You talk a lot but in the end you're a big government status quo Bush loving, government growing, statist. You know only what you're spoon fed and like a little bitch you run to this board and regurgitate it with these stupid threads.

Stick to the Money Board. You can fake it till you make it. Notsomuch here.

I never guarded the prisoners other that one time. I was with the Marine Rifle Security Company charged with guarding the fenceline A Few Good Men style. But from one of the fenceline posts I could see down into camp Cray. There were army guards on the inside and Marine guards on the outside. Sometimes the prisoners would act up, like ejaculating into their hands and then throwing it on the guards. Then they would send a platoon of Marines in to wreck shop. I would normally watch that instead of staring at the minefield like I was supposed to.
