I have only a 24 volt system but use a BPS 3 bank 5amp charger I plug in every time I not fishing. It has worked flawlessly. No un hooking leads as I have one to the starter battery then to the the two deep cycle troll batteries. This works great but I'm not fishing ten hours and draining the batteries every time either.
