2 of my patients last night have mitral valve prolapse. I see it almost every day at work. Over time problems can develop depending on the severity of the regurgitation buts its hardly anything to be overtly concerned about. Follow up with a cardiologist regularly and dont skip appointments because you are feeling fine. Take any meds they give you as directed and don't skip a dose.

I don't remember the exact reason she put me on it. It was an endocrinologist that I went to have my low tsh checked by. Maybe because my bp & pulse were high
It just made me so calm. Then when I went back the next week my tsh was normal & she told me to stop taking it
I've seen it used to treat anxiety, specifically panic attacks, and only for the short term. Maybe you have some anxiety and got some relief with it , but I haven't seen convincing indications for leaving people on it for psych/emotional/pickyourword personally. If you were talking with an endocrinologist, though, her end point is likely going to be different than someone who is treating your emotional state when giving a drug like that. If you do see a doctor for those sorts of things (other than that ends), mention how you liked how you felt when you were on it. They may not have a problem with you on it. You must beextremely responsible with it, though. Missing a dose could make your heart race, give you anxiety...it's really not pretty. It's much easier to give to a heart patient because you can say 'hey, your life really does depend on this' and when they don't take it, they get chest pain, know what's coming, and go and take it. In someone where it's slightly less 'life and death' compliance can be an issue, leading to more anxiety from that rebound effect from missing a dose, which really isn't the idea behind the drug. I haven't looked, but I am willing to bet there aren't good studies showing its benefit for what you are describing (though again, your doc may be totally on board).
Good luck

don't be worried, but that's high. If it's a single reading on one day, it doesn't mean much. Particularly if you took it after work or BMX riding. If it continues to be high, they'll start you on something, increase the dose of what you're on...who knows? But if diet and exercise aren't cutting it, and you stay with that number, your doc is going to want to treat it.

Damn I just saw my psychiatrist tonight. I should've asked him. But he did up my Klonopin
Posted on 1/15/14 at 9:44 pm to brbowhunter
Mine was 137/91 last time my psychiatrist checked he. He said it was stress from lack of sleep
Were you tired?

It defnifely wont hurt to cut down your sodium. Dont change what you do and check your bp for the next 2 weeks. If it stays 135+ on the top number then cut your sodium down to 2 grams per day and see if that helps.

Nope. Just asks about my sleep mostly & a few other questions & gives me scripts

You're like the 18 year old version of DV and 480 all wrapped into one little sack of shite.

I had it. Mine came on suddenly so doc. suggested surgery. I agreed. Open heart surgery and a couple of weeks of recovering, I'm back to normal.

90 is a bit high. 140/80 is where my doc controls mine.
Don't get too freaked out over this. That will only make bp worse. You ain't gonna die anytime soon from this. Just give old doc a chance to work it out for you.

Depends if it's classic or non Classic MVP. There are cases that can cause serious health hazards but also many cases where people are fine. If cardiologist thinks it's ok, then you're probably fine. It's associated with Marfans syndrome and if you have Marfans they'll keep a close eye on you're aorta to watch for a dissection. Btw I'm a cardiovascular sonographers so I had to learn about this shite.

i personally think my bp was from stress and anxiety.
i was worrying about my heath from consuming too many soft drinks. i was drinking a 12 pack of cokes every 2 days for about 3 years. i had no idea how bad they were till i looked it up. i was shocked.
i quit cold turkey and my body was all fricked up. i got anxiety from it and a few weird body issues. like a peptic stomach ulcer and swollen kidneys. i was worried like hell. but since then i have been great and only drink water and tea. cold drinks are the devil.
