If it is clicking, something in the drive is physically broken.

The last one we sent to DriveSavers costs hte company $1,800, but we got every single file back.

It's personal pictures and such. I won't pay that until I reach OT baller status. Could I not take it apart and tinker myself?

This.

If it's just a question of the drive head no longer working but the platters are fine, you may not have to pay more than seven or eight hundred and it sounds like that might be the case here.

Next time back up your stuff ...
