My dad tells stories of literally filling the bottom of the boat with reds in the 80s in Leeville. Used to just stack up in the long canals before they eroded.

yep.. by mid 80s reds got noticeably tougher to find though...


had nothing to do with recreational pressure - the pressure on bull reds(actually big females) caused stocks to fall...

my grandpa was like.. WHY WOULD SOMEONE KEEP A REDFISH OVER 15inches is beyond me...... I think red limit started at 14 or 15 and migrated to 16..

there were many many howls of protest over the limits...
