Whatever you do, go to Rancho Pescadero (few miles out of Cabo). It is a small resort in the middle of nowhere and is amazing. Make their own tequila and are right on the beach. Stay away from touristy spots and explore on your own. Rent a car and drive around. You won't regret it.

we did this recommendation but you can't do anything unless you are a guest of the hotel. so unless you plan on staying there at $225 bucks a night then don't do it. however, the place is unreal. it's probably one of the most relaxing spots in the entire world. no action, no noise, no TVs, just the ocean, flowers, trees, pool, hot tub, great weather, good drinks & food

anyway, we just got back from Cabo in December. We stayed at Playa Grande. It's an awesome resort with top notch customer service. It's also only a 5 minute walk to the Marina. My suggestion to you is to stay ANYWHERE on the Marina. Outside of the marina is like staying in Metairie if you want to make a New Orleans trip. sure you can have a blast but it's inconvenient.

Also, if you can find a hotel that's directly on the Marina, I'd almost recommend that. You could still easily walk to the beaches. The food is AMAZING in Cabo…we ate at 5 mexican restaurants and all 5 are better than anything I've had in the states…food is super fresh, all organic, all local. pretty cheap too

search a few threads to get recommendations on restaurants…Alexander's was our favorite place…the clam chowder we ate that 3 times in a week
Also, the crazy lobster is great….they have 2 locations, hole in the wall…for 30 bucks you each get 3 lobster enchiladas, 2 margaritas, and 2 shots of tequila

Cabo was one of the few places where I wanted to go back immediately after leaving. A lot of places I enjoy the hell out of my time there, but once the vacation is over, I'm happy to be home.

Sunset cruise is a must. That was the best time of the trip. On paper, it doesn't look all that awesome, but once you get on the board, the staff is entertaining as hell, the food good and the drinks FLOW.

also, if you are a beer geek like me, Baja Brewing is a must stop. It's located on the 6th floor right off the beach and the beer is some of the best I've had…being serious here, I bought some at a local grocery store and brought it back to the states..this is the view from Baja Brewery:
