By the standards some throw out, Nick wouldn't be a great coach either in comparison to The Bear.
Mac had some great teams and he was a pretty fair coach for his time.
I will never understand the need some have to tear down one coach in order to pump up another.

I liked Mac. He loved LSU.
But I think in the mid-70's, the game began to pass him by and he didn't adapt. Recruiting and offense became stale.
Then there is the matter of not getting real support from the school in terms of money.
Then there was Bama. Nuff said. One thing forgotten. How many Bear assistants became winning head coaches. That is the kind of staff Mac faced every year.
