Mauck and Flynn were perfect examples of that type of qb. Neither were as mobile as AJ, but both were way more mobile than Mett. Both took us to NCs. Rohan, JR, and Mett did not.
Flynn and Mauck had a lower completion %, less yards, and a lower passer rating than Russell, Mettenberger, and Davey. Let's look at how often they threw INTs:
Matt Mauck - every 29 passes (3.4 %)
Rohan Davey - every 32 passes (3.1%)
Matt Flynn - every 34 passes (3.0%)
JaMarcus Russell - every 38 passes (2.6%)
Zach Mettenberger - every 44 passes (2.3%)
huh? what's that? Mauck and Flynn were both more likely to throw INTs than Russell and Mettenberger, despite throwing far less passes (Russell had 797 attempts, Mett had 659 attempts, Mauck had 529 attempts, Flynn had 437 attempts).
JaMarcus Russell, Zach Mettenberger, and Rohan Davey were far superior to Matt Flynn and Matt Mauck.
You are an idiot.

the what ifs will drive you off the cliff. Mett behind an OL that gives you time to make reads and get the ball to landry, odell, or other open receiver was virtually unstoppable, our problem pocket collapsed blitz not picked up and Mett just didn't have the physical ability to avoid it. Think in the pros he will learn to step up in the pocket or just throw the ball away. AJ open canvas will need to see what gets painted on it.

he said neither took LSU to national titles...how is he the idiot? Russell had the below players to distribute the ball to:
Bowe, Doucet, Buster Davis, Skyler Green, LaFell at WR
Zinger & Jones at TE
Broussard, Vincent, Addai at RB
Whitworth, Niswanger, Helms, Livings, and Arnold blocking up front.
How he didn't win every game that year still blows my mind...especially to Tenn. and the throwaway Clausen...WTF.
