There's a big outlier this year that throws that way off, but I can see the point you are trying to make. I disagree with the notion that it is 'watered down' though because of one year of state championship games decided by 10+ points. I think there were some very good teams playing this year. I think it's appropriate that the teams that had a rather unfair advantage (resources at their disposal + able to draw people from other districts) no longer are allowed to play against what really is a different class of opponents. And in terms of the 'product' LHSAA is putting out, the original foundation of the LHSAA was to 'better regulate and develop the interscholastic high school athletic program.' I think the split has done a good job of better regulating and leveling the playing field for the athletes in underprivileged areas and low-resourced schools.
ETA- in the public bracket this year, there were the same number of 1-score games as there were last year. And only 1 less than the year before.
