Whoever they hire won't make as much as Saban because they won't need to pay him as much to get him.

They can have Jimbo at 5.5

I patially agree...UT doesn't need to pay any current college coach (not named Saban) more than ~5.5m. If it does turn out to be Saban, the number will be at Bama's max (I'm guessing at ~8m) and they will have bought him with the extras. I'm hearing that the extras are up to $20m signing bonus, LHN, and oilwells. Who could blame someone for considering that much money.

The other scenario where they could end up going up to that salary (8-10m) is if they miss on Saban and are forced to go after a "big name" NFL coach. UT has now put themselves in a position where the fanbase won't accept anything less.
