Just froze all of the gumbo. Will rice or potato salad be good thawed.

I don't care for frozen rice. However, you can freeze it in vac sealed bags. That would be the best way.
I don't think potato salad would be good frozen. I figure if that were the case, it would be sold frozen in the grocery stores.

I have never had good luck freezing potatoes. Once thawed, they fall apart and get mealy.
I'm not a fan of frozen rice. Rice is cheap enough and quick to cook to just prepare before eating.

Just cook more rice when you thaw out your gumbo. Rice is cheap.
Fwiw I've never frozen plain white rice

Neither will be good, the rice and potatoes will go to mush mostly as the ice crystals will break their structure apart.

Thanks for all of the replies. Will just feed it to the hogs and make fresh when thawing gumbo. Take care

Don't freeze the potato salad-will not end well. Rice can be frozen but fresh cooked rice is so much better and it's not like rice is expensive.

I've experimented with freezing jambalaya. Always seem to make too much. The results have never been great no matter what I did differently, but the key step is thawing. Trying to heat from frozen will result in mush, but letting it thaw on its own at room temp or in the fridge if letting it sit out scares you works okay. Of course, that takes time and defeats the convenience of frozen meals.

medium grain rice refrigerates as well as freezes better than long grain and jasmine freezes exceptionally well just reheat on low power in microwave and it wont dry out and crisp up. But why freeze in the first place?Fresh cooked is always better.
