Quickbooks data files are actually a pain in the arse. They're in some proprietary format (rather than SQL) that requires some special ODBC driver.
Still, if you're not an accountant-type and want something inexpensive that's thorough and guides you through everything you need to do, Quickbooks is your answer.

Because of its market dominance just about all other financial software packages have QuickBooks compatibility built into them.
