Guys this is coming from the large fella at best buy who really seems to know his shite. Sorry, but that's what he said and I have no reason to think he's just trying to sell me something because I made it perfectly clear I wasn't buying one until next year and they don't work on commission. Can you tell me why he would be bullshitting me? ETA: and seriously, what computer/tablet should I get? What do the expert pro hackers on the gaming board reccomend? I'm just a noob scrub trying to get info before I commit to a computer.

Look at the 410 or 510
if you are looking for a laptop that has decent gaming capabilities for a decent price. Since you are worried about the $1k price tag of the Surface Pro.
If you are looking to spend $1k+ then you could get better gaming laptops, but honestly your best value is going to be to build your own desktop.
