You will not break through any gaps. You will get pancaked repeatedly there is no way to guard everything at one time, you have yo know your opponents tendencies.

On these next gen consoles it doesn't seem like you need specific play calls to stop the run you just need to anticipate. Barring the fact that you are asking for help you probably control a defensive lineman and are not very comfortable using a line backer or a safety.

I clean up runs consistently from a zone blitz and user the safety. Once I get down into the gaps you just play gap control and force him back inside on outside runs.

Since we are throwing out credentials I'm usually ranked in the top 100 every year on NCAA and on madden I win about 75% of my games without cheesing. Good luck. If you were on xbox I could show you.

This is great advice. I user the weak-side backer, but you have to maintain gap control. I don't blitz often, but I still limit my opponent's run game. My base play is Cover 3 because the SS will often creep down into the box. Try usering a linebacker or SS (often they control the flats), and go from there. Crazy blitzes don't always lead to good run defense.
