Meyer is a shitbag, but I never felt comfortable laying this kind of responsibility on the coach or coaching staff. If I'm a head coach, I have to try to win, and I have to make sure my players are eligible. If there is some kind of issue, other than NCAA eligibility, that should keep one of my players off the field, then the responsibility is that of the university administration itself and not me.

So if it's so important that this bird-flipper be suspended, why doesn't the university step in and do the deed?

I agree with this.

Not sure how this situation should be handled but there is a serious conflict of interest with coaches having to be the sole/primary disciplinarian.
