It does. It counts as a loss. And you can lose a conference game and still be in the top 4. And if there's a four-team playoff, you're in.

I am arguing to respect the results on the field. I am against the bias of the eye test.

There are too many teams and to few games by each team to just discount a team because their in another conference.

I have no problem with the polls ranking the teams however they want After the playoff like the NCAA basketball tournament.

Bingo, but lets be real here...

The only team in your scenario above to worry about is Notre Dame. The other teams not in a conference won't have to worry about this. LOL
