LSU recruiting and state of the program

LSU proved on Saturday that the football program is not on the decline. I am optimistic and realistic. Coach Les Miles has my full support. It would be great to see a W on Friday and the Tigers playing in the Cotton Bowl. Yes, are better scenarios out there (Sugar Bowl) , but there are also some that are worse. Think of that three day stretch: Willis, Noil, and LF announcements Jan. 2 at all star game (have heard a Dec. timeframe mentioned as well for Speedy… 504Soulja, any info? Thank you), The Cotton Bowl the next day, followed by CG (possible that he could announce before that time) at the U. S. Army All-American Bowl.
The 2014 recruiting class should be one of the best ever if LF, Dupre, Noil, Willis, Tony Brown, and CG wear the purple and gold of Louisiana State University. There are other prospect, such as OT, LB, and S that would be great to add, but please read this info regarding The U and recruiting philosophy from the early 1980s:
On the recruiting front, he spoke of mining the "State of Miami," which entailed fencing off the fertile South Florida recruiting base from other programs and cherry-picking the rest of the nation for a few choice recruits (Feldman, Bruce (2004). Cane Mutiny: How the Miami Hurricanes Overturned the Football Establishment. New York: New American Library. p. 24. ISBN 0-451-21297-5).
Let's look at the six 5* players that I listed above the quote. Louisiana has A LOT of talented football players, not the sheer volume of Florida. However, it could easily be stated that Coach Miles has a "State of New Orleans" approach with South Louisiana and national recruits.

Clifton garret will more likely then not announce before then

Clifton is Goin to commit within the week IMO. He's too giddy about LSU unless someone is telling him to wait for other reasons. As far as I'm concerned he's a LSU tiger right now regardless of his commit status. I know he will be in classes by NSD

I'm almost as excited to see all these kids commit as I was the week leading up to this season

Yes. Good/Great Recruiting is the lifeblood of the program along with good coaching

You do realize a decline is a gradual thing right, one game doesn't prove anything one way or another. It was a very impressive win though.

i like your thinking here. Miles does a great job i would call it the "State of I10" from NO to Houston cause of what he has done over his time at LSU..People outside the state fail to realize how much the stat changes once you get above Alexandria

Yes, and 10 wins are still on the table (and yes, it is still a big deal, 10-3 is 77%). A #1 recruiting class is probably off the table, but I don't care about the #1 spot, necessarily (although it is nice). As long as we're top 5, that's a big win and top 10 or 12 means enough talent to win it all. Particularly with Leonard Fournette carrying the banner for this class.

Willis is equally important...the DL needs help...

Thank you for the info GSU. I'm out of state and have been to The Boot 5 times. Someone on 247 gave me some info in the past.
