There was an undisputed NC in the 60's, 70's, 90's, 2000's, and 2010's

In 1961 Alabama was voted number one in the coaches and AP poll after finishing undefeated with a sugar bowl victory over number nine Arkansas.
In 1965 number 3 alabama defeated number 4 Nebraska in the orange bowl, both number one and number 2 lost earlier in the day.
In 1978 number 2 alabama defeated number 1 penn state in the sugar bowl
In 92 number 2 alabama defeated number one Miami
As you can see there are several instances in the previous decades where number one and number two squared off, and in the 60's you can argue it all you want the number one and number 2 didn't play (they rarely did) but you can't argue that bama had a unanimous NC in that decade.
These facts are a moot point however, the point is that Alabama was great before Saban and will be great after Saban. Is a drop off inevitable? Sure, no one can stay on top forever, I'm just advising not to get too excited about the downfall of Alabama, because history proves that slumber doesn't last long. There is also no correlation that shows the "decline" of Alabama will signal a rise for LSU. Both programs are here to stay for the foreseeable future and both will rise again after any perceived fall, we've just proven it never takes long

I certainly understand your point but in doing so you effectively erase close to a century of champions. I don't think that's fair to the players or the game. As ambiguous as the champions were it was what part of college football.
