Power running vs Zone block running

Can someone explain the difference to me? Why is one better than the other? Why does it work so well for the Texans but sucked for us?
(apparently we went back to power running as opposed to zone block running last night?)

I'm not an expert. I know a little bit about it.
With zone running, you're getting your linemen to run in one direction, and it's up to your RB to find the hole, make a cut and explode through it. It can be especially deadly on cutback runs. You really have to maintain gap discipline while defending it. There's also a lot of cut blocking in this scheme, because if a linemen is on the ground, the play is moving away from him and he's out of it.
With power, man running, you have a definitive assignment(s)(you can be responsible for engaging a linemen for a second and then moving to the second level), and it's up the linemen to just beat his guy. It's usually has quicker developing plays than zone or stretch runs.
Power running fits our personnel better. While they have the athleticism to run screens, most of them are maulers.

Definitely seems like they found their rythym last night.

Was there a definite switch this week?

It seemed like it to me. I'm going to rewatch the game and pay extra attention to it.

If you have to lose. It feels good to lose to drew brees right?
And just like the saints, I did it without a kicker

I just won 4th straight in big money league to pull to 5-5 so that helped.

yea, you're pretty much right.
zone running is just like zone defense. you have an area to run towards, and you block anyone in your area basically
