The fake was designed for a defense in punt safety formation. We originally were not and bama was going to punt, but they called timeout because they took to long to recognize and make a decision. We adjusted and came out in punt safety and they ran the fake punt designed to take the free man from the middle of the field the wrong side and reverse it so he had no chance. They just needed to seal the edge long enough and ....voila (as so kindly pointed out)....1st down.

easy money,"they took to long to recognize and make a decision"
Wrong. If Bama was planning to punt what decision had to be made that took time to make? The announcer even knew that a fake punt was called because they called time instead of just taking a delay of game which due to the position on the field wouldn't have made any difference. The run was not off the edge. What game were you watching?
